The 2019 Christmas markets in Croatia have already started!
This year Zagreb is not the only city in Croatia you should visit if you like Christmas markets. If you are touring around the Balkans in December 2019, our recommendation would be to start in Zagreb, but also visit Plitvice lakes, which are a completely different experience in winter, compared to summer crowds.
After a nice walk through our most famous national park, we recommend a one-day tour to Slovenia, our neighbouring country. Ljubljana, the capital, is less than 2 hours from Zagreb, but we recommend starting with lake Bled with the only natural Slovenian island, or Postojna, if you prefer to visit one of the biggest caves in this part of Europe.
If you would prefer a warmer climate, we suggest going on a tour to Zadar, Split or Dubrovnik on the Adriatic coast where you can not only visit beautiful Christmas markets, but also enjoy the marvelous Roman and Venetian architecture.
